Our True Hockey Hero - Great Grandpa Hebby
reportThis is a video by Talia (11) and Kenny (4) about their true hockey hero! Great granpa, Hebby Axford, who won the first Olympic Gold Medal for Canada in Antwerp Belgium in 1920. He was the manager and coach of the Winnipeg Falcons Hockey Team and their Olympic Medal was a true underdog story. This team was made up of Icelandic Immigrants that made their own team up as no one wanted to play with them. Our great grandpa got this team together and mentored them all the way to a gold medal!!!!
